Travelers Must Have Real ID by October 2020

Posted on 09/27/2019

Do you present your state driver's license as your ID when you go through security at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport or any other airport across the country?

If so, you only have months left to make sure that ID is a "Real ID" or the Transportation Security Administration won’t accept it at security checkpoints.

Beginning on October 1, 2020, anyone who boards a domestic flight (or enters a federal building) will either need a REAL ID driver's license or will need to provide a passport or other accepted forms of identification.

According to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, the shift from regular driver's license to REAL IDs will improve the overall security of all forms of state-issued identification.
